SUMMARY:Hands-on Houston: 25th Birthday Celebration
DESCRIPTION:This September\, HCCC turns 25! Join us to celebrate our milestone birthday at this month’s Hands-on Houston with our favorite activity: making with our community. \nSince no birthday celebration is complete without candles and cake\, we’ll be making our own! Using simple hand-rolling techniques\, participants will make their own beeswax-rolled candles. Candles can range from a single taper\, a couple of short and skinny candles\, or even a set of birthday candles. Personalize your candle by adding a design using colored beeswax. This introduction to candle making is perfect for all ages and skill levels. \nThe 25-minute activity will take place indoors and is on a first-come\, first-served basis\, while supplies last. All participants will receive a commemorative HCCC birthday pin\, and the first 200 will receive a slice of birthday cake! \nWhile at HCCC\, visitors can also explore the resident artist studios and “A Material Inheritance\,” a new exhibition examining the cultural\, material\, and symbolic histories of silver and its role as a generational heirloom. Be sure to stick around after HOH for a very special Curator-led tour of the exhibition from 3-4PM! \nThis program was financially assisted by Impact100 Houston.
