In partnership with Council District C, Brazos Bridge Landscape Improvements to beautify the Brazos Bridge facing Bagby Street. The improvements will extend the landscaped section at Bagby/Elgin intersection into adjacent green space to provide improved aesthetics for the Midtown community and adjacent neighborhood as well as visitors.
Midtown Park Parking Garage
Underground 400 space public parking garage located beneath Midtown Park project. The garage will support mixed-use Midtown Park project as well as support future retail and commercial developments with expansion of COH Market-Based Parking Ordinance.
HAIS SPARK Park – HISD
In partnership with Houston Independent School District SPARK School Park Program, renovations to school park at Houston Academy of International Studies (HAIS). Improvements to the SPARK Park, located at 1810 Stuart Street, include fitness equipment, sand volleyball court, refurbished basketball court, benches, and new pathways.
Main Street Streetscape – FTA Grant
Streetscape enhancements along METRORail Red Line between Pierce St. and Wheeler Street including wider sidewalks, landscaping, street furniture, brick pavers, accessibility ramps, pedestrian lighting, artistic lighting, and other pedestrian-related infrastructure. The new infrastructure will better serve the residents and businesses in the area and facilitate additional development along this rail corridor.
Holman Street Streetscape – FTA Grant
Streetscape, bicycle route, and pavement enhancements between Spur 527 and Chenevert from Spur 517 to Chenevert. Midtown Park
Mixed-use project including public park located adjacent to the McGowen Street METRORail Station at Main/McGowen intersection. Three-acre park includes pavilion, dog park, water features, children’s interactive play area, public art installations, and front plaza area featuring cascading fountain.
Entry Portals (I-45/Bagby; Gray/Webster, Elgin/Bagby/Brazos)
Development of plazas, public squares, and landscaping in the public right-of-way to create community open spaces and provide connectivity and mixed uses along its corridors. The development of these plazas and public squares will complement cultural arts facilities and offer unique identity branding in Midtown.
Bagby Park
Renovations to MRA-owned public park located at Bagby St./Gray St. intersection Improvements include stage reconstruction with canopy, storage facility, lawn regrage, and perimeter lighting.
Baldwin Park
Renovations to City-owned park include playground upgrades to provide additional play experiences for children to learn and practice developmental skills, electrical infrastructure to better facilitate future park programming, and new perimeter lighting to improve visibility into the park.
