MIDTOWN COMMUNITY BUSINESS EVENT

HPD South Central Division

South Central Business Welfare Check-In Program

Starting March 9th

The Houston Police South Central Division, Differential Response Team will be active in the Midtown community, as it will work hand in hand with local business owners, residential communities, and other key neighborhood stakeholders.

This includes a new program called the “South Central Business Welfare Check-In Program”. Here, officers will interact with business leaders and meet to discuss crime prevention strategies as well as conduct a security survey using crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) concepts, talk about specific concerns in the area ,and more.

Officers will also offer safety workshops for residents and businesses. A safety survey will also be administered to participating residents, so that the police can analyze data to improve services as well as gauge where safety concerns are located within the Midtown area.

Lastly, this public safety initiative is combined with printed outreach materials, such as a “March on Crime” & “Let’s Make Midtown Safer” business decal, outreach doorhanger with crime prevention tips and police officers’ contact information, a Houston Police Investigative Division contact phone number sheet, and a “See Something, Say Something” magnet.

The overall goal is to enhance public safety efforts, while providing tangible services to the public while utilizing a holistic approach; in partnership with the South Central Division and the Midtown Management District. This is what embracing the guardian mindset and community-oriented policing is all about. For more information, please contact HPD Sergeant Jason Cisneroz at [email protected].
