Since the creation of the Midtown Management District (MMD), the volunteers of the Public Safety Committee have worked tirelessly to address safety concerns in Midtown Houston.
Midtown has four law enforcement agencies, private security, and one patrolling agency working as the eyes and ears of the community every day. These officers engage the community through safety and protection measures, crime prevention, and sharing methods to improve safety in the area. To ensure all security efforts are streamlined and efficient, MMD relies on a veteran public servant to help provide peace of mind for residents and visitors.
Meet Jaime Giraldo, MMD Security Coordinator
Jaime Giraldo connects and represents as the district’s liaison to the law enforcement agencies serving the community. He plays a key role in working with the community to develop and implement public safety and crime prevention programs that empower residents and businesses owners.
He has a long history of serving the community. He served in the United States Coast Guard, Harris County Precinct 6 Constables, and the Houston Police Department, where he co-founded HPD’s Homeless Outreach Team. He is one of 12 siblings, with eight brothers in Law Enforcement.
“I love serving this community and working with everyone to make it safe,” said Giraldo. He also said that the most important thing we can do to elevate personal safety is to “be conscious of your surroundings and if you see something, say something!”
Please join the Public Safety Committee for their regular monthly committee meeting on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 11:30 a.m. to hear from Giraldo and learn about public safety in Midtown.
