Experience the Arts Virtually in Midtown Houston

The pandemic has impacted small businesses across the city, but local artists have been hit particularly hard. Now is a perfect time to support your local artists by experiencing the arts virtually in Midtown Houston.
Midtown and The Ensemble Theatre have joined forces to put a new and exciting twist on Children’s Storytime. This puppet show and storytime features local performer Crystal Rae reading Happy Dreamer. There will also be a sing-a-long with AndyRoo and the Andyrooniverse. Tune in to the Midtown Houston Facebook page and YouTube channel on May 19th at 11:30 a.m.
Virtual Art in the Park
With the cancellation of Art in the Park 2020 and other spring markets and festivals, artists are creating new ways to showcase their work online. We created an online gallery featuring some of the artists who were scheduled to show their work this spring. Click on each picture to see their work and support local artists.
Chalk on the Block
Now you can experience the joy of local artists creating pavement art on their own driveways and neighborhood sidewalks from your own home. In June, artists will be creating street art at different Midtown restaurants to support the local business community. Watch the last Chalk on the Block, the virtual event on the Midtown Facebook page, and stay tuned for the next one on June 6th.
Beats and EatsOn the second Friday of each month at 6:30 p.m., there’s an interactive dance party happening in your own living room courtesy of Midtown Park’s “Virtual Beats & Eats.” Check out the Midtown Park events page on Facebook for details of the next session, including which Midtown eatery is supplying the eats. Get into a groove with local tunes and takeout to keep feeling connected to your neighbors.
As isolating as social distancing can feel, these events are helping tp keep Midtown close, engaged, and supportive of the local creative community. We can’t wait to see you back in the park, but until then, let’s stay together virtually.
