This summer, visitors of Bagby Park in Midtown Houston will experience outdoor entertainment and savory Mexican-style bites against a lush green backdrop. La Calle Tacos is set to open this summer after revisiting the original concept and shifting to focus on developing a world-class outdoor dining experience.
“We hoped to open this spring, but as we listened to the interests of the community, we found that the best way to do this was to create a multilayered experience beyond fresh food and beverages,” said Ramon Soriano, Owner of La Calle.
La Calle Tacos will enhance the current kiosk area with a sustainable container bar and an expanded patio hosting additional outdoor seating. It will include a 6x4ft HD screen featuring a rotation of classic movies and music videos. Additionally, new changes include a stage for live performances, a pergola for daytime shade, and enhanced lighting to compliment the Downtown Houston skyline at night.
While the food kiosk enters into the countdown to opening day, many of the enhanced spaces at Bagby Park are now open to the public. In addition to the dog park, bocce ball court, and public seating areas, visitors to the park are currently able to enjoy the new and improved amenities, including:
- An upgraded stage with a canopy and additional, programmable lighting to better accommodate outdoor performances
- Lawn modifications and improved site drainage to provide a relaxing space of natural beauty
- Additional perimeter lighting to increase visibility into the park and improve public safety
Park spaces west of the lawn and stage, including the expanded restrooms and storage facilities remain closed in anticipation of La Calle Tacos’s grand opening.
