Sip, Shop and Stroll at Art in the Park This Weekend

Over 100 local and regional artists will make their way to Midtown Houston this weekend to showcase their creations. Our upcoming Art in the Park on April 7 from 10am to 6pm is the place to be for family-friendly activities and a diverse selection of artistic disciplines.

There will be opportunities to have insightful conversations with artists while you browse all of the original artwork up for grabs. Held at Elizabeth Baldwin Park (1701 Elgin St.). the event will be chock full of entertainment.

Here’s how you can sip, shop and stroll at Art in the Park:

Sip & Indulge

When you’re not learning about the fascinating artwork on display directly from the artists themselves (and snagging your favorite unique pieces), you can pair this day of artistry with a drink. Take your pick from the delicious food provided by multiple food trucks and settle in for some live music and a refreshing pint at the Beer Garden.

Shop & Admire

Art in the Park will have it all: everything from sculpture, mixed media, and clay to live art demonstrations and more. Thanks to our event sponsor Central Bank Houston, there will be live chalk art, live painting of a Unicorn Bike by local artist ZU with Houston BCycle, an Arts Alley featuring six local arts organizations and a display of some of Houston’s famed Art Cars.

You’ll even have the chance to support artists affected by Hurricane Harvey and spread the Midtown Houston passion for arts and culture that much further.

Stroll & Play

Elizabeth Baldwin Park has a cozy atmosphere that makes strolling through it truly a delight. While you absorb the park’s fusion of Midtown Houston’s storied history and urban growth blossoming in the area, you’ll be serenaded by live entertainment from The Arcades, The Bayou City Brass Band, Fred Rusk and the Zydeco Hi-Steppers, The Slags, The Evelyn Rubio Band and more.

Throughout the day, families can head to the Young Audiences’ Houston Kids Zone to enjoy fun especially for little ones. You can also try your hand at The Wine Meadow painting party led by local artist Debra Jan Hall, where you can paint your own wine, martini glass or beer pint. Keep an eye out for some super selfie moments at our interactive life size public art display. Oh, and don’t forget to take advantage of the free bike valet provided by BikeHouston.
