Bagby Park has its own special atmosphere that keeps the Midtown Houston community flocking to this one-of-a-kind green space. Come take advantage of the park’s free offerings at any of our weekly, bi-weekly and monthly events happening this May.

There will be Cinco de Mayo festivities, opportunities to get your blood pumping and tone muscles, plus a chance to relax outdoors on a fine summer evening:

Upcoming May Events at Bagby Park

  1. Wine Down

On Friday, May 4, join us at Bagby Park for three hours of pre-Cinco de Mayo carousing. Rico’s Morning + Noon + Night will serve happy hour specials and The Electric Cowboys will play country and tejano. It’s the first friday of the month, you deserve to treat yourself at Wine Down!

  1. Chalk on the Block

Infuse your Cinco de Mayo fun with a healthy dose of thought-provoking art at Chalk on the Block this Saturday, May 5 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Get outdoors, soak in the Bagby Park vibes and watch talented local artists make the sidewalk come alive with Cinco de Mayo-inspired chalk creations. Meanwhile, you can get coffee and breakfast from Rico’s nearby.

  1. Movie Night

We’re continuing the Cinco de Mayo celebration by showing Selena for Movie Night on May 5. This classic about the extraordinary life of beloved singer Selena, played by Jennifer Lopez, still gets the emotions flowing even 20 years after its release. Bring a blanket to the park and settle in for a free movie showing from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

  1. Midtown in Motion

A Bagby Park favorite, Midtown in Motion, which will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 12 and May 26. The ever energetic Roz Jones will lead not one, but two fitness classes. Take your pick from HIIT, Yoga Flow or both and start your morning off right.

  1. Teach You Tuesday

Come learn and try new things that will expand your mind, soul and body. This new series offers workshops like how to be a DJ, learn to dance, meditation & fitness, self- improvement techniques, interactive art and more.  Last class for Tai Chi ends on May 15 & Bollywood X starts in June-July..

  1. SPHERE (This class includes a fee)

Every Wednesday night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., bring your best running shoes to this mentally and physically challenging soccer-inspired workout. SPHERE is about pushing your limits while strengthening your overall fitness. You don’t need to be an athlete to see the benefits, but you will certainly become more athletic.

As you can see, May is packed with many excuses to find your way back to Bagby Park again and enjoy fresh air for the start of the summer.
