Seven Summer Events to Enjoy in Midtown’s Parks This July

With summer officially underway, there’s no better time to head to Midtown Houston parks. Check out these options of fun-filled ways to get out and discover something new to do in July.

We encourage all event attendees to prioritize the health and safety of themselves and our Midtown community. Masks and social distancing are optional. We will continue to follow the guidelines and recommendations from the City of Houston, including encouraging all Houstonians to get vaccinated/boosters and to wear masks as desired. 

Teach You Tuesday

Are you looking for classes that inspire, motivate, and teach you? Join us at Bagby Park in Midtown to learn a new craft, skill, or technique. This month we partner with Pop Shop America to create a boho-inspired macrame and succulent wreath. Enjoy food and drinks at La Calle Tacos in Bagby Park. This event is limited to guests who are 18 years or older. Check-in time is at 5:15 PM.

 

Get Fit in Midtown 

Date: July 9 & 23, 2022

Bagby Park is the PERFECT place to get moving! Featured instructor Roz Jones will conduct a High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) class at 9:30am and Yoga Flow class at 10:30am for all fitness levels, weather permitting. Roz Jones, Fit Lifestyle Innovator, is a dynamic and influential force of energy and enthusiasm. As a seasoned fitness professional, Roz’s classes build strength, flexibility, and endurance.

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)  9:30am – 10:15am

Be prepared to burn calories and build character by combining cardiovascular training, strength training, functional flexibility, and music for a solid 45-minute practice.

Equipment Needed: Attendees are strongly encouraged to bring a mat and water; resistance bands are optional.

Yoga Flow 10:30am – 11:15am

Movement, music, and mindfulness are the focus of this Baptiste-inspired, powerful yoga flow that engages all your muscles for increased mobility and strength.

Equipment Needed: Attendees are strongly encouraged to bring a mat and water; yoga straps and blocks are optional.

Samba

Learn one of Brazil’s most popular partner dances from the best of the best. Experience this samba class instructed by The Brazilian Cultural Institute. The class is free and open to all skill levels.

 

 

 

Family Capoeira

Experience Afro-Brazilian martial art teachings that develop strength, coordination, and discipline in our Family Capoeira session. Instruction is provided by the Brazilian Cultural Institute and is open to families of all sizes and skill levels. 

 

 

Storytime Summer Series
