Midtown Houston Hosts the 2023 “Holiday Twinkle” themed Mistletoe Market Featuring Local Makers

On December 8-9, 2023, Midtown Houston will host two days of enchantment at the Mistletoe Market in Elizabeth Baldwin Park. The theme for this year’s market, “Holiday Twinkle in Midtown,” invites artisans and specialty crafters to showcase their unique creations. Mistletoe Market begins on Friday, December 8, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and runs through Saturday, December 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., promising guests two days of creating cherished memories while finding the perfect holiday gifts amidst a collection of elegantly crafted items and home décor.

“The Midtown Mistletoe Market surpasses the conventional notion of a market – it is an immersive destination, hosted in an iconic green space, featuring interactive activities for the entire family,” said Cynthia Alvarado, Director of Operations for the Midtown Management District.

Guests will have the opportunity to stroll through Baldwin Park, the five-acre urban oasis, amidst twinkling lights, capturing pictures with Santa Claus, and being serenaded by holiday music. The event will feature ArtJams, which are craft classes catered to both adults and children. Attendees will have the chance to indulge in holiday-themed food and beverage options and explore captivating public art installations transporting guests into a world of wonder.

This year, there are 29 artists and makers participating, including:

  • Miram O’Brien – Drawing from her career as an architect and her culture, Miram creates art inspired by molas, a textile art form of the Guna Indians of Panama and Colombia.
  • Anna Naumenko – Anna prides herself in creating gifts that last, using art to enhance home decor items such as decorative plates, floral arrangements, candles, and wreaths.
  • Charles Washington – A multimedia artist, Charles is also the Executive Director and co-founder of Houston’s Harambee Art Gallery and focuses on advancing environmental art.
  • Samantha Peterson – For those in search of something sweet this season, Samantha creates homemade mega drop cookies and custom-decorated sugar cookies for the holiday, as well as additional sweet treats.

Their creative expressions will undoubtedly add an extra layer of magic to the weekend’s events. Hosted and underwritten by the state-designated Midtown Cultural Arts and Entertainment District of Midtown Houston, the Midtown Mistletoe Market embodies Midtown Houston’s unwavering commitment to supporting art in all its forms. Through vibrant community collaborations, Midtown Houston strives to create a space where creativity flourishes, holiday spirit abounds, and individuals unite to celebrate the joy of the season.
