Spring break is the perfect opportunity to relax and explore Midtown Houston. With Houston’s vast, spread out destinations, parking can be a challenge.
Luckily, the new parking garage at Midtown Park is now open. This means cost-effective parking right next to a beautiful green space and the McGowen METRORail stop.
Take Advantage of Midtown Park’s New Parking Garage
Beat the traffic by leaving your car at the Midtown Park Parking Facility. It has an exit that leads directly to the park grounds, two exits that lead to Main St. and another two that lead to Travis St. You can make it your hub for visiting Midtown Park, heading to the METRORail or seeing the sights nearby.
Credit cards and cash are accepted, so no need to worry about any ATM runs. Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. the cost is $1.00 per hour. Even better, on weekends and from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. during the week there’s a flat cost of $5.00. But make sure to check on any local events happening beforehand, as this can sometimes affect the flat cost.
Upcoming Events at Midtown Park
While you’re close by, you might as well get the most out of the location and enjoy Midtown Park. You can absorb the sunshine while enjoying the lush lawn, interactive water features and public art installations by artists Sharon Engelstein and Dixie Friend Gay. If you’ve got a pup, bring them to the Reliant Dog Park.
Over spring break, there are plenty of free opportunities to get out and get active. For dancers and dance lovers, there’s an open ill Movement Session on Sunday, March 18th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Get even more active and bring your family along for a Capoeira Class on Saturday March 17th from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
On Thursday March 15th from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m, bring a blanket and head over to Bagby Park for a movie night inspired by rodeo season. The featured movie, Urban Cowboy, will charm classic movie buffs and anyone who appreciates a good country tale.
