April in Midtown Houston brings that fresh-air energy—more sunshine, more movement, and more ways to stay connected. Whether you’re making something new at Teach You Tuesday, breaking a sweat in Bagby Park, or settling in for a movie night under the lights, Midtown Parks are your go-to for FREE springtime activities in the heart of Houston.

This month’s lineup is built for the way Midtown lives: active, creative, and connected. It’s all free, it’s all outdoors, and it’s all designed to make it easy to show up—whether you’re a regular in the park or you’re finally ready to try something new.

Your Guide to April Programming

Teach You Tuesday

Join us for April’s Teach You Tuesday at Bagby Park, featuring a spring-themed art canvas experience in partnership with Painting with a Twist Midtown. This interactive evening invites guests to get creative, enjoy the park atmosphere, and connect with neighbors through a guided painting activity designed for all skill levels. Supplies will be provided, and no prior experience is needed. Space is limited, so RSVP is required to participate. Come enjoy a fun, hands-on night in Midtown and leave with your own seasonal masterpiece.

Sound Bath Meditation

Unwind with a guided sound bath designed to support deep relaxation and mental reset at Baldwin Park. Participants are immersed in calming waves of sound that help ease stress, quiet the mind, and restore balance in both body and spirit. Hosted with partner GongSia Sacred Sound Sessions.

Zumba in Midtown

Bring your energy to Midtown Park every Tuesday at 6:30 PM for Zumba in Midtown. This high-energy class blends cardio and fun with expert instructors, upbeat music, and a community-driven atmosphere that keeps you moving.

Dates: Every Tuesday in April (April 7, 14, 21, 28)

Movie Night: The Marvels (2023)

Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy Movie Night in Bagby Park. Arrive at 6:00 PM to claim your spot on the lawn and enjoy music and games before the film begins at 7:00 PM. The first 125 attendees will receive a complimentary treat from Poplife Popping Co. or Twirl Cotton Candy, and food and beverages will be available for purchase from La Calle Tacos.

Family Capoeira

Discover the power of movement, rhythm, and culture through Capoeira. This Afro-Brazilian martial art blends discipline, coordination, strength, and expression in a welcoming class for all ages and skill levels in Midtown Park. Instruction is provided by the Brazilian Cultural Institute.

Yappy Hour

Enjoy a free, pet-friendly happy hour at the Dog Park from 5:30–7:00 PM. It’s a fun, relaxed way for neighbors and their pups to socialize, connect, and enjoy the evening in Midtown at Bagby Park.

HIIT (Featured Instructor: Roz Jones)

Yoga in Bagby Park (Baptiste-Inspired Flow)

Get moving in Bagby Park with a Baptiste-inspired yoga flow designed to build strength, mobility, and endurance. Led by Roz Jones, Fit Lifestyle Innovator, this energizing class combines movement and mindfulness for a full-body reset in the heart of Midtown (weather permitting).
