When you combine food, music, and local art, you get an unforgettable celebration. This is exactly what you can expect at Midtown Houston’s Art in the Park on April 2, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Bagby Park (415 Gray Street). As an added bonus, the park was recently renovated and is the perfect spot to showcase local creatives. Check out more details below, including activities, artists, live music, and good eats.
Celebrate Midtown’s Season of Renewal
Spring is a season of optimism and hope. This year’s theme for Art in the Park is Bloom Where You’re Planted, which brings to mind our hope for brighter days ahead. The fine art festival will feature an eclectic selection of vendors, artisans, and performers to remind us that this is a season of renewal.
We are also excited to be leveling up your photography experience with a temporary transformation by Houston-based artist April Murphy. She will add messages to inspire, emphasizing mindfulness, inclusivity, diversity, wisdom, and more to the classic Midtown letters. For the first time, the public is invited to meet the artist and watch the installation in real-time leading up to the event. Click here for details.
Guests will also have the chance to snap a pic in front of the famed Midtown cube and three oversized arches.
Festivities and Fun at Art in the Park
As you stroll through Bagby Park, you’ll see some of Houston’s best chalk artists creating incredible pieces on the sidewalk. There’s something for everyone, including friends, families, and even pets. If you do bring a pup, make sure you pick up your free pup cake from Jackson’s Place-Midtown. Then, take a few steps over for delicious Mexico City street food from La Calle Tacos.
This opportunity to explore art and artists isn’t complete without expressing your own creativity. You will have the chance to artfully interact during one of three free ArtJams. These are first-come-first-serve classes complete with supplies.
