South Central HPD PIP Meeting

May 17, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Midtown stakeholders on the east side of Louisiana are encouraged to attend the Houston Police Department’s monthly PIP meeting. Meet your Division Captain and patrolling officers.

A police agency can be very confusing to most citizens. The Positive Interaction Program holds monthly PIP meetings featuring speakers from different divisions (Burglary and Theft, Homicide, K-9, Helicopters, etc.) explaining how their division operates. This is done so citizens will know what to expect, should they ever need the police. The department was not sure how citizens would react to coming to a police station once a month for a presentation on a different division. So, the Positive Interaction Program was started as a pilot project in only one police station to begin with. The Program has proven to be an overwhelming success.

For the May 17, 2016, South Central PIP meeting @ 7:00pm, we are honored to have Mayor Sylvester Turner take the time to attend the meeting to address and answer questions from the community.  Due to the Mayor’s hectic and time consuming schedule, he will only be at the meeting for a limited time.

Due to the time restrictions, I am respectfully requesting everyone arrive early; so, we can discuss the format of the meeting before the Mayor arrives.   This will ensure that the time the Mayor is present, he will be able to answer as many as questions as possible.

If you have a question you would like to ask the Mayor:

  1. Email me the question. Reyes@HoustonPolice.Org
  2. State your name; so, the Mayor will know who is asking the question.
  3. Send me the area/neighborhood you reside, e.g. Third Ward, Second Ward, Midtown, Museum District, etc.

In order to keep the meeting controlled, structured, utilize the time wisely and to have as many questions answered by the Mayor, I will ask the Mayor the questions.  When I ask the Mayor the question, I will have the individual stand who submitted the question, state the individual’s name and area where he/she resides.  This way the Mayor will know who submitted the question and will be able to look and direct his answer/reply to you.

Questions must be submitted to me by Monday, May 9, 2016. Only the questions submitted will be addressed to the Mayor.  Again, this is to benefit all of you to have as many of your questions answered as possible.  Please be advised and understand that there will be many questions submitted and not all the questions may be able to be asked.   We will do our best to have the Mayor answer as many questions as possible.

Please let me know if there are any questions.
