Leading up to the 2023 Juneteenth holiday, the iconic Midtown sign at Bagby Park will be wrapped in a design by artist Chris Robinson. The artwork will pay homage to the historically Black communities in Houston- Third Ward, Fourth Ward (Freedmen’s Town), Fifth Ward, Independence Heights, Acres Homes, Sunnyside, and South Park.
