Midtown Houston Art in the Park

Come jazz up your art at our annual Art in the Park fine art festival! Join us at Midtown Park Plaza for our vibrant and free Midtown Art in the Park festival. This year, our urban-style fine art festival celebrates National Jazz Appreciation Month and pays homage to the legendary Maestro Duke Ellington. With a diverse lineup of local artists, art classes, selfie stations, and culinary arts, this one-day event is a wonderful opportunity for the whole family to enjoy.
This free event allows visitors to purchase art, participate in free ArtJams (art classes), see public art installations, listen to music, and gather with family and friends in a welcoming environment. Entertainment and activities include:
- Over 30 art vendors
- Food trucks and dessert vendors
- Free face painting for kids
- Selfie stations, art cars, and art installations
- DJ Mav spinning your favorite tunes and tributes to Maestro Duke Ellington
- Hustlers Brass Band playing upbeat New Orleans-style sounds
- An interactive ArtJams area with art activities the entire family can enjoy
- A game zone, including favorites such as UNO, dominoes, and Jenga
- A coloring book station featuring Midtown and jazz favorites
- Chalk displays along the sidewalks to view as artists complete the art
- Cool giveaways from the Midtown Management District!

SCHEDULE
- 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM: Jazzy String Art
Sometimes music tugs at the strings of our heart. Make and take a sweet little piece of your own music art! Four options to choose from; music clef, saxophone, guitar, or flower. Registration required.
- 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM: Matisse Inspired Collage
Create a collage of your musical inspiration. Using music paper, maps, string, color paper and more create a musical Instrument collage to make and take. Registration required.
- 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Dot Painting
Let the jazz music in your life inspire you at our first ever dot painting class. This is a walk-up class for any age with space for 20 guests at one time. Registration required.
