Midtown Park Named Finalist for the Urban Land Institute’s Americas Awards for Excellence

After being awarded the 2020 Urban Land Institute (ULI) Houston Development of Distinction Award and The People’s Choice Award, Midtown Park is now receiving international recognition. Earlier this month, ULI announced that Midtown Park is a finalist for the Americas Awards for Excellence among 22 other exceptional developments across North America.  This ULI competition is widely recognized as one of the real estate industry’s most prestigious award programs.

“We’re honored that Midtown Park has garnered recognition from the development community as one of the premier urban open spaces across North and South America,” said Marlon Marshall, Director of Engineering and Construction at Midtown Houston. “Many thanks to our project consultants led by Design Workshop and Walter P Moore for an innovative and sustainable design which has helped to make Midtown Park a top destination for art, entertainment, and outdoor activities in this region.

Midtown Park offers three acres of park and open space with adjacent pedestrian-oriented streetscapes. The park’s interactive water features, Camden Pavilion, NRG Dog Park, native landscaping, and public art installations provide a vibrant quality of life for residents and visitors.  Midtown Park has hosted more than 45,000 guests at 470 events since opening in 2017. It has quickly become one of Houston’s top outdoor event spaces, hosting weddings, music festivals, culinary events, and community gatherings.

Camden McGowen Station complements Midtown Park by offering high-density urban living in the heart of the city. Both are located off Travis Street with direct access to the METRORail at McGowen, BCycle Stations located in Midtown Park, and Zipcar locations. Camden residents have access to the amenities at Midtown Park and so much more.

Midtown Park is among 18 other finalists developed in the United States, four in Canada, and one in Mexico. ULI evaluates submissions based on overall excellence, including achievements in marketplace acceptance, design, planning, technology, amenities, economic impact, management, community engagement, innovation, and sustainability. The winners will be announced this summer. To learn more about the award and ULI, click here
