You’ll find plenty of reasons to smile as you jumpstart your holiday shopping at Midtown Houston’s Mistletoe Market.
From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 18 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, this free event in Bagby Park (415 Gray Street) will showcase fine arts and crafts and delicious food in a festive atmosphere guaranteed to have you singing along with the strolling carollers.
Why wrangle for mall parking spots before daylight on Black Friday or fight your way through crowds of other shoppers when unique and amazing gifts await you under red-and-white vendor tents with lovely, seasonal decorations? Mistletoe Market is a delightful way to shop as the scent of pine and the sound of holiday music will fill the air. And yes…Santa will be there!
Photographer Janet Roe will be offering colorful prints of iconic Houston scenes, and fiber artist Cindy Dixon will have handcrafted throw pillows and holiday-inspired pieces cleverly stitched from vintage fabrics. The Doggie Express will supply gifts and organic dog treats for your furry friends. Also, the Olive Leaf Outreach will be selling Lavender Jill Vintage Sugar Scrubs and gift boxes with proceeds supporting summer camp for autistic teenagers.
Sometimes the best gifts are those that excite the taste buds, like macarons and cookies from Made From Scratch, or ginger snaps, chocolate nuggets, and cheese snaps from The Center Houston, a place that supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Last year, Axel Provisions’ signature sauces sold out quickly, so you might want to get to their booth early.
For your shopping convenience, and to reinforce our commitment to sustainability, Midtown Houston will provide reusable shopping bags created just for the Mistletoe Market, and the little ones will be treated to free balloons and candy canes.
When you need a break from shopping, there will be a special holiday ornament-making station managed by Harambee Gallery, and before you leave, don’t forget to have your photo taken at the interactive holiday card!
Everything’s merry and bright in Midtown Houston, but it won’t be the same without you, so please come for all the festivities and fun.
