Bring in 2017 in Midtown Houston

Get out your party hats and chill the champagne – it’s time to ring in the new year!

Things are just bigger in Texas, and that translates into big fun and good eats in Midtown Houston, where a number of trendy spots are rolling out the red carpet to help you to usher in the New Year in style.

Join fellow revelers at one of the many New Year’s Eve celebrations taking place on Dec. 31 in Midtown, including the wildly popular Pub Crawl that starts at Midtown Drinkery Bar & Grill, 2400 Bagby. The $14.50 ticket price gets you an all-access party package and entrance to some of Houston’s best venues.

Other participating venues in the 2017 Houston All Access Pass include Capital Bar Midtown, 2415 Main Street; Christian’s Tailgate Bar & Grill, 2000 Bagby Street; Saint Danes Bar & Grill, 502 Elgin; and more to be announced.

Bars & Nightclubs

Alexerad Beer Garden, 1517 Alabama, is hosting a Laid Back NYE Party from noon-2 a.m. Reservations: 713-597-8800.

“We going to have six bands and there’ll be lots of rare beer tappings, and it’s free, no cover,” said manager Elise Capers of Alexerad. “The music starts at 6 p.m. We want everyone to come out and have a laid back New Year’s. It’s a chance to unwind and get ready for the New Year.”

Howl at the Moon, 612 Hadley, is gearing for a New Year’s countdown with a variety of offerings that include at Standing Room/Just Dance package for $30 with guaranteed entry and half-priced drinks from 9-11 p.m. The $80 Party Rock package gets you guaranteed reserved rail seating, half-priced drinks from 7-11 p.m., gourmet dinner buffet from 7-9 p.m., and complimentary champagne toast and party favors. The $100 package gets you all that, plus a complimentary bottle of champagne per table. Reservations: 713-658-9700.

Restaurants

Artisans Cuisine & Savoir-faire will hold a New Year’s Eve Dinner from 5-10 p.m. at the restaurant at 3201 Louisiana The cost is $120 per person plus tax and gratuity. Call 713-529-9111 for reservations. Check out the online menu.

Brennan’s of Houston, 3300 Smith, is offering a special New Year’s menu from 5-9:45 p.m.

Appetizers include snapping turtle soup, creole lobster, and shrimp remoulade. Entrees include Texas redfish on the half shell, Black Hill Ranch Lamb Osso Bucco, Hunter’s Honey Roasted Duck, and Creole Seafood Bouillabaisse. Desserts include Creole Cream Cheesecake, Rougaroux Rum Carrot Cake, Mississippi Mud Pie and NOLA Flambeau Cake. Reservations: 713-522-9711.

Charivari Restaurant, 2521 Bagby, is preparing a special New Year’s Eve menu to remember. Dinner begins at 5 p.m., and for $95 you can create your own menu from a mind-boggling selection. Appetizers include pumpkin lobster bisque, wild mushroom ravioli and black winter truffle. Select from entrees such as beef filet tournedos, char grilled Piedmontese flat iron steak, and Icelandic cod fillet. And top it all off with desserts like lemon crème brulee tart, Swiss chocolate hazelnut tart, and cranberry cobbler with bourbon vanilla ice cream. Dinner ends at 11 p.m. Reservations: 713-521-7231.

Damian’s Cucina Italiana, 3011 Smith, is offering a special menu from 5-10 p.m. The $49.95 package includes appetizers like lobster bisque, Gulf shrimp sautéed in garlic, and sliced beefsteak tomatoes with buffalo mozzarella. Entrees include Linguine pasta with scallops, calamari, and mussels; grilled snapper topped with artichoke hearts, tomatoes, and fresh basil; and Pistachio crusted Atlantic salmon drizzled with lemon butter sauce. Among the desserts: Tuscan bread pudding served with Jack Daniel’s bourbon sauce, and Italian cream cake, among others. Reservations: 713-522-0439.

Holley’s Seafood Restaurant & Oyster Bar, 3201 Louisiana, will serve a regular menu from 5:30-11 p.m., and a holiday menu is being planned. Reservations: 713-491-2222.

Ibiza Food & Wine Bar, 2450 Louisiana, will offer an open menu from 5-11 p.m., with holiday items being planned. There’ll be a toast in the bar to bring in the New Year. The bar closes at 1 a.m. Reservations: 713-524-0004.

Midtown Bar & Grill, 415 Gray, will hold its Carpe Annum – A New Year’s Eve Celebration! from 9 p.m.- 2 a.m. Tickets are $30 each. Reservations: 713-528-2887. Enjoy a spacious venue with two stories of distinct style, two professional DJs, a cash bar starting at $6, free parking, complimentary light bites, open air photo shoot (so be sure to dress your festive best!), dancing, and a champagne toast at midnight.

Weights + Measures Restaurant & Bar, 2808 Caroline, is laying out a five-course meal for New Year’s revelers. Menu appetizers include Amuse bouche caviar. The first course includes Wood grilled za’atar crested lamb chops; the second course, lobster tarragon tortelloni; the third course, crispy skin lacquered duck breast; and the dessert menu includes chocolate strawberry creme aus stack and prosecco raspberry float.
