Are the long days of summer inspiring you to get outside? If you want to expand your social sphere, try something new or otherwise shake up your usual routine, we’ve put together five events that will motivate you this month. These events range from a family-friendly shopping experience to quirky adult mingling. Most are free and all will take place in Midtown Houston’s Bagby Park.
Houstonians love Bagby Park for three reasons: the convenient location, the beautiful surroundings and the proximity to delicious food. In their park spotlight, 365 Things to Do in Houston praised Bagby Park, writing that it, “… makes the most of a relatively modest space with amenities, including a lush green area …”
This is why Bagby Park is an ideal spot for our top four engaging summer activities:
1. Improve Your Health and Wellness
Shake off any mental blues and strengthen your body at Midtown in Motion, a free fitness series open to people of all experience levels. On June 10th and 24th, featured instructor Roz Jones conducts a High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) class at 9:30am and Yoga Flow class at 10:30am.
2. Find the Perfect Gift for Dad
Midtown Houston is hosting our first Father’s Day Market on Friday, June 9th from 11am to 7pm so that you can discover unique and affordable gifts in one convenient spot. The event will feature eclectic art from Harambee Art Gallery and Bug in the Box, as well as swing analysis from Top Golf, 3D pop art metal sculptures from Yes We Create It, drawings and paintings from artist Joel Stanulonis, modern stainless steel cufflinks from Reverse Cufflinks and fine cigars from The Smoke Ring.
3. Drink and Play Alongside Furry Friends
Yappy Hour is a delightful excuse to take part in a Happy Hour without having to leave your pets at home. The event at Midtown Houston Bagby’s Dog Park is held on June 23rd at 4:30pm to 6:30pm. Don’t miss out on treats, giveaways and more.
4. Listen to Live Music in the Park
Last but not least, we’re putting on the Live at Lunch event, where you can take a break to dine on bites from Rico’s Morning + Noon + Night while listening to a live performance from the Tightn’ Up band. Bring a blanket or chair on June 10th for entertainment from 12:30pm to 2pm.
What events inspire you to get off the couch and soak up some sunshine?
